JOSEPH PARKER has insisted Tyson Fury’s cut, which postponed his fight with Oleksandr Usyk, was a “freak accident”.
Fury has been criticized for suffering a cut during a sparring session ahead of his fight with the Ukrainian.
Fury, 35, was caught with an elbow by Croatian sparring partner Agron Smakici and required more than 10 stitches in his eye.
As a result of the injury, the heavyweight unification fight with Usyk was postponed from February 17 to May 18.
There is no evidence that the injury was simulated in any way.
However, fans have speculated on social media about its legitimacy.
Parker, 32, has now weighed in on the debate and dismissed the conspiracy theories.
Former WBO heavyweight champion narrated iFL TV: “I don’t think you can avoid seeing the opinions and comments.
“A lot of people talk very badly about him [Fury] and say it’s a fake cut and he made it happen.
“Everyone has an idea, everyone has an opinion, everyone wants to say this and that and think they know what’s happening, but that’s boxing.

“These things happen and it’s a freak accident.
“It’s good that they postponed the fight and didn’t give the fight to someone else because we want to see that fight happen.
“I know it will happen.
“There are things in place now where if someone withdraws from the fight, there is something they have to deal with, so it will happen on May 18.”
Saudi boxing power broker Turki Alalshikh quickly confirmed that a new date has been set just three months later.
Fury and Usyk need to make the fight happen now or they will have a huge one £10 MILLION consequence that must be paid from the boxer’s own money.
Usyk spoke out for the first time since the fight was canceled at a press conference in Valencia, where it was revealed he pushed for the penalty clause.
