Vice President Harris’ stepdaughter has raised $8 million in a fundraising campaign for Palestinians in Gaza, most of which critics say will end up in the hands of Hamas.
Ella Emhoff, 24 – whose father, First Gentleman Doug Emhoff, is Jewish – launched a fundraiser on her Instagram page “in support of urgent aid to the children of Gaza.”
“The fundraiser, which has raised more than $7.8 million to date, is administered by the Palestinian Children’s Relief Fund, a nonprofit organization based in Kent, Ohio, which raised more than $21 million in 2021. according to ProPublica,” the New York Post reported on Saturday.
“It is unclear how much Ella Emhoff personally donated to the cause.”
Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R-N.J.), a member of the House Homeland Security Committee, claimed that most of those funds will likely end up in Hamas’s coffers.
“It’s a huge concern and I find it disgusting,” Van Drew said. “To be honest, I’m a little baffled by it. It is disturbing to the highest degree.”
Emhoff stated in 2021 that despite her father’s heritage, she does not identify as Jewish.
“Ella is not Jewish,” a representative of the second daughter emphasized The Forward in 2021. “It’s not something she grew up with. Ella really has no problem with the faith, but she does not want to speak on behalf of Judaism because she does not celebrate herself.”
Joe Biden was recently as well criticized by a federal agency watchdog after announcing last month that he would send $100 million in aid to Palestinians in Gaza.
The Office of Inspector General for the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) said Friday that Biden’s aid funding was “at high risk of potential diversion” and “could fall into the hands of foreign terrorist organizations (FTOs), including, but not limited to, Hamas.”
