LOVE Island host Maya Jama shut down a fan who claimed she was part of the Illuminati after spotting a ‘giveaway’ hand sign.
The presenter, 28, has landed in South Africa ahead of the new series of the ITV reality show.
And one of Maya’s first acts on foreign territory was to hit back at the follower who took offense by making an OK sign with her hands in an Instagram photo of the flight.
The fan wrote: “All these Illuminati signs to become famous, you have to sign your soul… no respect at all now.”
It caught Maya’s attention and she replied, “Honestly, it’s an ‘ok’ sign.” You have to turn it down [laughing emoji]. I didn’t sign anything, you can rest.”
The Illuminati is a supposedly 250-year-old secret society that some bizarrely believe has enormous global influence and controls entire nations from the shadows.
Many celebrities, including Jay-Z, Beyoncé and Katy Perry, have been accused of being members by conspiracy theorists, who often point to gestures or symbolism the celebrities use as evidence.
The theorists believe that the organization is trying to establish a New World Order that controls every aspect of society.
However, there is no actual evidence that the association exists – let alone that some of the biggest names in the world are part of it.
Meanwhile, Maya opened up about her four-year relationship with Stormzy, who she dated from 2015 to 2019, in a new interview this weekend.
In a conversation with The Sunday timesMaya insisted that she is very much single despite being linked to her ex.
She explained: “We were so young when we met, just starting our careers.
“I started at MTV. He hadn’t even released a single at the time. We were just little babies.”
“I don’t think either of us knew it was going to be such a big thing. We were just, we’re young and in love and we’re going to go for it and work really hard.”
She added, “We’re just together. We’ve never really done red carpets. We haven’t done stuff like that.”
Maya insisted that despite speculation that the couple are back together, she is happy to be single as she only recently split from Australian basketball star Ben Simmons.
“I’m really single now. New single. It’s only been a month, but it’s fun.”
What is the Illuminati?
According to theorists, the Illuminati have conspired to establish a ‘New World Order’ that would set up a single government to control the planet.
The clandestine group is said to have agents who control movies, music, banks, governments and other powerful institutions.
They believe that their influence, combined with strategic decisions, will result in a totalitarian world government or some other sinister outcome.
Theorists have pointed to other secret societies, such as Skull and Bones and the Bilderberg Group, to claim that they are front organizations for the Illuminati.
Today, the Illuminati has become a name linked by conspiracy theorists to everything from the “faked” moon landings, the September 11 terrorist attacks, and the assassination of JFK.
Just an internet search for such conspiracies will send you down a rabbit hole of websites trying to connect the secret organization to so much in history and modern times.
