On Sunday, 46-year-old transient Michael Gordon was arrested again after police responded to a 911 call reporting a male entering and stealing a wallet from a parked car. Gordon was wearing a shirt that read “I just got out of prison.”
Officers used a portable fingerprint scanner to identify Gordon after he refused to provide his name. When asked to identify himself, Gordon told police “Call my lawyer.”
Gordon pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor obstruction charge on Monday and was sentenced to 5 days in custody plus a $500 fine, according to Florida court records.
The obstruction charge came from Gordon’s failure to identify himself to deputies investigating the reported auto break-in. Gordon’s shirt aptly indicated his most recent legal troubles“he was convicted in late-July of trespass for unsuccessfully attempting to enter a Dodge van parked in a St. Petersburg lot. Originally charged with attempted burglary, a felony, Gordon pleaded to a reduced misdemeanor count and spent 115 days in jail following his March arrest.
When booked on December 3rd for his latest offense, Gordon had changed out of the “prison” shirt into an orange jail smock for his mugshot. Gordon’s criminal history includes convictions for burglary, drug possession, trespass, theft, prowling, criminal mischief, and obstructing police.
