MEGHAN Markle was last night accused of spreading conspiracy theories in her latest attempt to smear the royal family.
In yet another trailer for her and Prince Harry’s $100 million Netflix docuseries, the royals are accused of briefing against the Duchess of Sussex and using her as a scapegoat.
Allies claim there was “a real war” against Meghan, 41, and negative stories against her were printed in the media to prevent less favorable stories about other royals from being printed.
An example used in the trailer is a real Sun exclusive that showed Meghan making Kate cry during a bridesmaid fitting.
Curiously, ex-Tory MP Ann Widdecombe has also been implicated in the attack on the royal family.
The trailer uses a front-page story about Ann calling Meghan “trouble” when she was on Celebrity Big Brother in 2018.
Sources say it is ridiculous to believe that a palace courtier sneaked into the Big Brother house to instruct Ann to attack Meghan – or to leak words broadcast to millions on television to the press.
Ann, 75, told The Sun: “If she believes Buckingham Palace informed me, or told the newspapers, about a comment I made that was broadcast on television, then she is paranoid.
“If she doesn’t believe that, she’s deliberately launching conspiracy theories that have no basis in fact.
“I said it on Big Brother, but it wasn’t about race.
‘In fact, she was a fairly successful Hollywood actress who never lived in this country, knew nothing about the royal family and was divorced after two years of marriage.
“Given the challenge of marrying royals, I said she would be trouble. But social media went into an uproar.
“How on earth that has anything to do with Buckingham Palace, I can’t imagine.”
Insiders point out that the Palace regularly defended Meghan due to untrue stories in the media through lawyers, legal letters and complaints to the press complaints organization IPSO.
Today’s final three episodes are likely to feature an unprecedented attack on the royal family and the media by the Sussexes.
Meghan will speak about the ‘family conflict’ after she and Harry left Kate and William’s Royal Foundation to start their own.
Harry, 38, will also accuse the royal family of lying to protect brother William, 40.
Buckingham Palace and Kensington Palace declined to comment.
