Porsche Macan 2025: End date confirmed for petrol models in Australia

Porsche Cars Australia will sell the old petrol engine Macan and its electric replacement for several months simultaneously, with the former expected to remain on sale until 2025.

Speaking to media, Porsche Cars Australia head of PR Alexis Truscott said the petrol Macan “should be available until approximately the end of the second quarter of 2025”. This means that it will remain on sale until the end of June.

“In Australia people can still order from dealer stock. The number of dealers varies by specification, model and dealer,” she says.

Ms Truscott made it very clear that the outgoing Macan would be available while supplies last, and that no new orders would be taken from the factory – “it’s done,” she said.

Despite the first generation Macan reaching the end of the road in the Australian market, the brand’s global product planners for the Macan line said there is still no end date for global production of the model.

The two generations of Macan are currently being built side by side at Porsche’s Leipzig plant in Germany, where the petrol model will remain on sale in various global markets “depending on customer demand”.

Thomas Rothfuss, director of the Macan product line, said Porsche can be “flexible” in scaling back combustion-powered Macan production.

“Of course there is a date in our minds… also in terms of suppliers and things like that. But we have flexibility at our Porsche plant in Leipzig, where both models are built,” he said.

Although not available to order, prices for the final 2025 model year (MY25) Macan range start from $95,100 before on-road costs, which is $1300 more than the MY24 range but still around $30,000 less than the new Macan Electric.
