Police in Fort Worth have announced they will not enforce a Senate bill that would allow Texas law enforcement agencies to arrest illegal immigrants.
In an announcement Monday, Fort Worth Police Chief Neil Noakes said immigration enforcement should be left to state and federal authorities, adding that illegal aliens are representative of the city’s “vibrant growth… and the diversity of our communities.”
“The mission of the Fort Worth Police Department is to serve every member of our community, and our daily commitment to that mission will not change with the passage of Senate Bill 4,” Chief Noakes stated in a video on X.
“While we will always follow the law, primary responsibility for immigration enforcement and border protection must be left to our federal and state partners,” he added.
“In light of our city’s vibrant growth and the diversity of our communities, our department remains steadfast in its commitment to community policing and making Fort Worth the safest city in the country for all who call this community home.”
The Fort Worth Police Department’s statement anticipated Tuesday’s SCOTUS decision blocking an emergency request from the Biden administration asserting that the FBI has exclusive authority to police immigration, allowing SB4 to take effect become.
The department was roundly condemned on social media for refusing to protect its citizens.
“The Fort Worth Police Department has failed the residents of their city in favor of illegal immigrants,” one social media user wrote, adding sarcastically, “Good job everyone.”

The Fort Worth Police Department has abandoned the residents of their city in favor of illegal immigrants.

The United States is being invaded and you cowards want to hand out speeding tickets to soccer moms.
Enforce the laws of the State of Texas or resign.

Laken Riley could not be reached for comment. How many young college women are there at TCU and in the Fort Worth area who could be the target of an illegal walking through town while you tweeted this nonsense about leaving it to your “FEDERAL AND STATE PARTNERS.”? 🤡🤡🤡 @TrueTXProject

With this mentality, an illegal can be apprehended without a license or insurance and allowed to move on. But a citizen gets a ticket and most likely the car is seized.
I understand, thank you very much for nothing @fortworthpd— Southern Shaker™️ (@TexasTrucker) March 19, 2024
So you happened to wait until after the local elections to let us know the Chief’s position on this issue.

Thanks for letting us know not to visit Fort Worth! My hometown, but I won’t go there for any reason as long as this is the policy.

It could even be argued that from now on, if anyone is killed or injured by an illegal alien in Fort Worth, the blood will be on this police department’s hands.
