Every night the Milky Way decorates the darkened air all over the world with a series of shiny stars and pink-orange fabric. Stunning in itself, our Galaxy is increasingly dazzling in the images of the 2025 Milky Way Photographer of the Year competition.
The annual competition, organized by Capture The Atlas, received more than 6,000 entries in his eighth year. Winning shots, each of a different location, including the midst of the Moai Sculptures of Easter Island, on top of the Hehuan -Berg of Taiwan and the remote Socotra island of Yemen. For the first time there is even a view of the Melkweg from on board the international space station that conquered astronaut Don Pettit while the earth glits below.

Although diverse in geography, approach and technology, all photos are led by the brilliant light tire in the distance. See all 25 winners on Get the Atlas.
