The small Christian school where a teenage girl committed a bloody massacre in Wisconsin is staunchly conservative. She rejects the theory of evolution and claims that local government is chosen by God, according to her statement of faith.

The details emerged as police said they are still investigating a “combination of factors” when it comes to the motive behind Monday’s shooting at Abundant Life Christian School in Madison, where 15-year-old Natalie “Samantha” Rupnow was a fatally shot another teenage student and a teacher while pumping bullets into three other teenagers and a teacher.

“Humans were created by an immediate act of God and not by a process of evolution,” the school’s two-page statement says.

“We believe that civil government was instituted by God for the punishment of evildoers and for the protection of the good.

“We therefore consider it our duty to pray for rulers and magistrates; and to be obedient to their authority, except in things contrary to the will of God,” the statement said.

The school is a founding member of Impact Christian Schools, a cluster of Christian higher education centers in Wisconsin. The group “believes that God wants more” from education, according to their website.

Director of primary school and school relations Barbara Wiers reiterated the school’s beliefs at a press conference on Monday.

“Despite the tragedy, God is at work, and we believe that God is good in all things and that he turns beauty into ashes,” she said.

“He is our foundation at Abundant Life Christian School. We are here to bring and build up the disciples of Jesus Christ so that we can fully trust Him to carry us through this.”
