Chicago – a couple of “peace circle” facilitators can soon be looking for another work. That’s because the lawyer of Cook County, Eileen Burke, has instructed officers of justice to stop distracting crime gun cases to the ‘Restorative Justice’ program of the court, According to WTTW.

The outlet says that 82.8% of the caseload of the courts of the courts consisted of weapon possession.

Defendants who complete a healing justice program, often participating in so -called ‘peace circles’ are eligible to have the case scrub from records.

Burke’s policy leader, Yvette Loizon, said WTTW that the retired court does not think that arms cases should be resolved with peace circles because the court was intended to resolve cases in which a crime was committed against a victim, but arms matters are not a victim.

Last week Burke announced that she supports new legislation with which first arms designers participated in a new type of distraction program. If the law adopts, this will be able to apply for many persons accused of illegal rifle possession of firearms while participating in the program. After successful completion, they would have a license to have legal firearms, and the gun shop would be dropped.

Last April, the police who responded to a shot spotter were arrested a man’s possession of weapons. He already had a weapon store awaiting the court of the Restorative Justice.

A successful alum of the program was accused of Schoten during a carjacking attempt last January.

In 2022, a man reportedly shot and paralyzed a woman in River North four weeks after his crime gun was sent to Restorative Justice Court.

Last August, two men with things awaiting “Peace Circle Court” were accused of committing an armed carjacking on Logan Square. One man had a hanging weapon shop; The other had a crime distribution of drugs.

Another man with a hanging weapon store in Restorative Justice Court was accused of car theft.
