Alex Jones analyzes the powerful footage from the House Judiciary Subcommittee investigating the disturbing reports of the assault of journalist Owen Shroyer, who is in federal prison on freedom of speech charges.
During Tuesday’s House Judiciary Subcommittee hearing, Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) Bureau of Prisons Director Colette Peters spoke about “disturbing allegations of political retaliation” by the agency.
During the hearing, Gaetz raised the alarm with Peters over disturbing allegations that Owen Shroyer and others were being abused “to send a message to other people.”
“I understand that you can’t know the circumstances of every inmate in the entire agency, but this is one that I developed and sent to you because I fear that the entire Department of Justice and what we have endured, There are people who are used as pawns, they are mistreated to send a message to other people.
I’m grateful that you said that this is not your teaching and that you don’t want to see it happen, but… you have also not been able to tell us with complete confidence that this does not happen in some cases. And I’m afraid it’s happening here.
Have you heard of the Owen Shroyer issue?
Peters replied: “No, that name doesn’t sound familiar to me.”
Gaetz responded to Peters by expressing concern about the prosecution of anyone involved in the Jan. 6 events and an eagerness to make “site visits” to monitor how prisoners are treated.
“A very similar fact pattern, you know, someone who spoke out, was prominent in the public, was convicted as a result of activities on January 6th and now feels that there has been specific retaliation by the Bureau of Prison.
I don’t think there should be any retaliation against any group of people, so I’m looking forward to taking you up on the offer to maybe do some site visits and see how people are being treated and get that information directly . So I hope that I will soon receive cooperation from OLA.”
