On his very first day in charge of the Republican National Committee after taking over last week, Team Trump wasted no time when it ventured to reshape the RNC in Trump’s image — immediately bringing the ax down on more than 60 of the organization’s roughly 200 employees.. Suppliers are also preparing for possible termination of their RNC relationships.
“[The new leadership is] during the organizational and staff evaluation process to ensure the building is aligned with the vision, said new RNC chief operating officer Sean Cairncross in an email to staff.
They are among those whose career blood is splattered on the walls of RNC headquarters five senior employees, included the leaders of the political, communications and data teams. Some employees are asked to resign but are given the opportunity to reapply for their job. “If you choose not to reapply, your last day of work will be March 31,” Cairncross wrote. In a possible indication of the new leadership urgency to reorganize the party, Cairncross’s own name was misspelled on his email.
Last week, RNC members voted to put Trump’s endorsed candidates in charge. Michael Whatley, chairman of the North Carolina GOP, is now chair of the RNC, Trump daughter-in-law Lara Trump is co-chair and Trump senior campaign adviser Chris LaCivita is the chief operations officer.
The RNC renovation isn’t just about achieving Trump’s purity — it’s also focused on cost savings:
Trump advisers have described the RNC’s structure as overly bloated and bureaucratic, which they believe has contributed to the party’s money problems. The RNC had about $8 million at the end of December, only about a third of the Democratic National Committee. – Politics
The new organization will do that consolidate some functions – such as fundraising, communications and data – in one department. The finance and digital teams will likely move to Palm Beach, where Trump’s re-election campaign is headquartered, an insider told the newspaper. New York Times.
Lara Trump told it Fox news the RNC will focus on three pillars to ensure a winning November: “Get the vote out, protect the vote and raise money, but I would argue that voting protection is perhaps the most important of these three; election integrity.”
The RNC has already established an election integrity unit, she said, and will expand it with a nationwide network of volunteers, including poll watchers, poll watchers and attorneys, adding: “We can never allow what happened in 2020 and the questions surrounding that election to ever happen again.”
