As global support for the war in Ukraine plummets, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said his government could declare an “extraordinary emergency” if the war between Russia and Ukraine worsens.
Scholz issued the ultimatum as part of an effort to secure more war funding for Ukraine.
To justify his alarmism, Scholz said this step is necessary for European border security.
“The Russian attack on Ukraine is not just a war,” Scholtz said on Wednesday. “It’s about whether the borders will be safe in the future – it’s about the security of Europe and Germany. I will therefore argue for reliable support for Ukraine.”
Interestingly, rival politicians have not.
‘It is a predictable emergency that you must declare no later than halfway through the year’ said opposition leader Friedrich Merz. “We won’t let you get away with this trick, Mr. Chancellor.”
Scholz’s desperation to keep the war going is followed by Ukrainian President Zelensky begging his countrymen to sacrifice everything for more ‘weapons’.
