South Korea’s main opposition party leader Lee Jae-myung was attacked by an unknown assailant during a visit to the southern coastal city of Busan and rushed to a hospital after bleeding from his neck.
Lee was the Democratic Party’s candidate for the 2022 presidential election. And he has been faced several charges of alleged corruption, which he has denied.
Witnesses said the suspect did that approached Lee for an autograph and pretend to be a supporter. He then attacked him with a weapon that was between 20 and 30 centimeters long.
The alleged attacker has been arrested.
The extent of his injuries is unknown…
